DAY 1 ~ 9/15/21

What a first day! And what a fantastic send off! I was greeted and joined by many family, friends and neighbors. I truly felt the love. WSAW was there to record the big day. Click on the news segment link below.

Many family members and friends joined in the walk including my 93 year old dad. My sister Annie joined for the first 5 miles and was my sag wagon for both legs of my 16 mile first day. Paige also joined sag wagon on first leg and joined Annie for our lunch run to Panera.

My walking partner, Joan Dold joined for the first leg of 10.5 miles. Marlene Fawley, a tennis friend, joined the entire 16 miles!!!

I wanted to make it 2 miles father but was stopped due to the biggest swarm and mosquito attack I’ve ever experienced!! Caught me by total surprise. Didn’t have spray so had to stop.

Funny story from today,: We heard a hissing sound from the ditch and thought what the heck was that? We ran towards the middle of the road thinking it was an animal. Walking on, we heard it again and realized it was coming from Marlene‘s butt. It was her cell phone and an app was running which was making the sound!! We laughed and laughed. What a memory!
