DAY 5 ~ 9/19/21

Today was the hottest day of my walking journey so far. Got up to 90+ degrees. I did a total of 14.5 miles today. The first 10 miles were done in the morning at least so it wasn’t too hot. Walked all the way through Portage Wisconsin and then was joined by Paige, Clarence and Joan for lunch at the 1873 Grill. The atmosphere and food were fantastic!

Today was the first day that a man stopped in his car and asked me if I wanted to ride into town. Of course I said no I’ll walk. There are nice people everywhere! The other first, Clarence talking to a couple outside at lunch about my story and they had to come in and meet me. The woman asked to take my picture! I was really touched.

I was surprised tonight by two dear friends, Vern and Larry, who came to our campsite joining us for dinner. They brought baked potatoes (my favorite!!) and a delicious appetizer.
