DAY 68 ~ 11/21/21
Joan and I walked a total of 13.5 miles today. It drizzled a bit this afternoon, not bad, just enough spattering of a soft rain to bring some variety to our day. We’ve been so fortunate with great weather! We walked into Texarkana AR at the very end of the day. Unfortunately, there was no sign for a selfie. Boohoo.
An older woman and her daughter stopped and asked if we knew where the pecan plantation was. Joan told them she saw a pecan sign close to where we started the day. They also asked if we knew how to get back on I 30 going east. I guess we look like locals. We told them our story. The older woman said they were heading back from Dallas to Arkansas to visit her husband‘s grave. We are on parallel paths! I smiled and said you’re doing the same thing! And the older woman laughed and said but we’re not walking, we’re driving.
A kind man in an old red truck had passed us, turned around on the highway and came back to see if we needed a ride.
A sweet woman passed us, immediately pulled a quick u-turn at a pretty good speed, and came back to us on the shoulder. When we approached her car she said y’all need a ride? We told her what we were doing and she smiled, said ok and as fast as she took the first, took another u-turn and was on her way.
We walked by a talkative horse that wanted us to come over to see him. Joan didn’t cross over but I couldn’t resist. When I approached with my hand he smelled, kinda used his mouth to see if I had food, then realized I didn’t so turned and walked away. It was just adorable.
My brother Greg arrived at his hotel around 3 and picked me up at the RV park around 3:45. We stopped at Target for an errand of his then drove around Texarkana exploring. Found a fun place to eat downtown called Hopkins Icehouse. We were there over two and a half hours! Had a great time together. I’m so thankful he’s here!!
I’m so looking forward to a day off tomorrow!! Very excited to spend it with Greg. We have a list of possibilities but nothing decided yet. No matter what the day brings it will be great since he’s here.
Ended the night perfectly talking with and wishing Paige happy birthday!! My love.
