DAY 10 ~ 9/24/21

DAY 10 - 9/24/21

I can’t believe I walked into Illinois today! Put on 18 miles total. Joan walked the first 12 with me before lunch. Was able to walk the whole day on the Wisconsin badger trail which again was absolutely wonderful. After Illinois it turned into the Jane Addams trail. I will be taking this all day tomorrow as well to Freeport Illinois.

I walked the second half of the day alone. We had arranged a pick up point on Highway 26 as it intersected with the trail. The thing we didn’t realize was the trail went under the highway instead of crossing it so I was stuck underneath unable to get to them where they were waiting for me. I had already put on 18 miles for the day and was so ready to be done, but being on an adventure like this one, I realize things don’t always go according to plan so continued to march on. It wasn’t too much farther up the trail that I saw there was grass mowed creating access to the trail from a home stead of above. I was able to take that mowed trail and follow it to the house which was on the road the RV was waiting on. That was lucky!!! Good thing I’m an observant walker!

Day 10 is now in the history books. This is actually going by quite fast!!
