DAY 56 ~ 11/9/21

What an incredible birthday !! The day started off with Annie and Greg driving the hour from their hotel in Little Rock to pick us up at our RV park in Bald Knob, only to drive back the way they had come 35 miles to take Joan and I to our starting point! Now that’s teamwork and dedication!! I love my family so much.

Joan and I walked a total of 14.2 miles today. Annie, Greg and Craig picked us up after 9.9 miles and drove us to this cute little lunch spot called Peppermill Cafe & Grill in Cadott. We all had breakfast and I couldn’t believe my luck but they had hash browns!!! That’s a great birthday present all by itself!! Annie joined us for the afternoon portion which was 4.3 miles. That section was tough walking as the shoulder was very narrow and it was a very busy road. Annie still says that was her favorite part of the day. What a trooper. It was very special having her walk with me!! We had one guy stop and ask if we needed a ride. Annie thought he was so sweet!! And he was!

The afternoon brought a special delivery: A cake from the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation!!! They wished me happy birthday and also congratulations on making it to the halfway point. Wow that really moved me!! It was a scrumptious carrot cake with cream cheese frosting from Nothing Bundt Cake. The delivery man was actually the owner, Mike, and he hung around to talk to Joan, Clarence and I for at least a half hour in the RV! He was really interested in our whole team journey.

The RV moved to our new spot today, Downtown Riverside RV Park in Little Rock. It is a beautiful location right on the Arkansas River in the heart of downtown. It’s the same area Paige and I explored on my day off. So cool!!

Greg, Craig, Annie and I drove the half mile over the bridge to a dinner spot called Cache. It was delicious. Because it was both of our birthdays they offered free dessert, but since we had the PFF cake, we decided not to pass up the opportunity so got two pieces of key lime pie to go!! That will be so good tomorrow!!

This adventure is beyond wonderful. Makes the hard work of each step so worth it.
