DAY 51 ~ 11/4/21

I started off on my own this morning and Joan joined me after 7.8 miles. I did a total of 16.8 miles so she did a total of 9 miles with me. I walked all the way through Newport today. Was really cool walking over the bridge over the White River. Very fun and charming town. Part of the route was through a cemetery. I enjoyed that more than I expected. It was just beautiful.

A man stopped this afternoon while we were on the highway and asked if we needed a ride. I told him we were on a pilgrimage walk and he said OK and drove off. Joan and I joked with each other and said he might not know what the word pilgrimage means. I know that’s not nice but we did have a good laugh.

It was an absolutely perfect day to walk. Bright sunshine low 50s and no wind. This morning‘s starting temp was 30° which didn’t feel too bad without any wind.

Paige got here about 3:30 in the afternoon which was about the same time we pulled into the RV park after we were done for the day. The hug was divine!! So good to see her. We made a team decision to flip-flop days off so instead of taking Saturday off we’re taking tomorrow off. I am so excited! It has been 17 days walking in a row and I need a break!
