DAY 16~ 9/30/21
We again spent the entire day walking on Illinois 40, a busy two-lane highway with lots of trucks. The only thing along the route was one gas station which we gladly patronized for the bathroom and a refill of our water. Joan bought some licorice for Clarence. The day ended walking through Buda Illinois, a very small and run down looking town. Joan walked most of the day at 16.1 miles. She had to stop because her knees were done. I logged 16.8 miles for today, 12 miles before lunch and 4.8 after. It was the warmest feeling day we’ve walked so far because there was very little wind, near 90 degree temps and higher humidity. That made the day extra challenging.
Clarence cooked pork chops on the grill tonight dressed perfectly with lemon pepper seasoning by Joan. Delicious! I made the veggies and potatoes.
I cannot believe it, but I get my first day off tomorrow after 16 days straight of walking. I plan to sleep in and then work most of the day. The start of October marks the need for tabulating month end results and balancing for September. I’m really looking forward to it!! I believe my body will be grateful!!
