DAY 55 ~ 11/8/21
Joan and I walked a total of 14.4 miles today. Our feet are really hurting. Been some long mile days!! Paige, Joan and I had lunch in Beebe Arkansas at a cute little cafe called Happy Jacks Place. The food was great!! We walked all the way through Beebe and both loved the town!!
A husband and wife stopped in an old beat up truck just outside of Beebe and asked if we were going to Beebe. We told them the story and they were so friendly we stood there for at least 5 minutes talking to them. Their names were Louise and Bill. They were going into town to get her new teeth. She smiled and showed us that she indeed had none. She told us about the relatives they had in Iowa and Wisconsin including one who owned a Christmas tree farm who was 102. She also said her father died of emphysema so she was really moved by what we were doing.
It was once again very hard saying goodbye to Paige. It will now be a long stretch of 6 weeks until we see each other again on Christmas Eve. We had an absolutely wonderful few days together.
When we got back to the RV Park, it was hard to get motivated, but I did set up my work station and got going on the last bit of sales results for my stores. I have an hour or so left to finish. I maybe got 10 minutes in and a man came up to the RV and said Hi Joan. I asked Joan who it was and she said I don’t know but then she opened the door and said come on in sir. When I looked up I saw it was my twin brother Greg!!! What?!?!? He came all the way from Austin, Texas to be here for our birthdays tomorrow!!!! What a surprise!!!! We had a good visit before I asked if he wanted to do any walking with me tomorrow. He said no, and Craig won’t either. I said Craig??? (Craig is my sisters husband) His face tried to hide the fact that it looked like he was giving away some type of secret. I thought he just made a mistake and meant when I finish in Port Aransas when they come down at the end of December. But a part of me thought well maybe Craig came down from Wisconsin too? I knew it couldn’t be Annie because she’s been texting the last few weeks saying how much she wishes she could come to see me but all these things have prevented her from being able to do it and she needed to be at the franchise conferences which are this week. Well a few minutes later sure enough Craig walks in the front door of the RV! And then a few minutes later Annie!! I was blown away!!!!What a double whammy surprise! I cannot believe it. I am the luckiest girl alive right now. I am so blessed with such a beautiful loving family! They are staying three nights and Annie will walk with me a portion of two days. For us all to be together to help celebrate our birthdays is so very special! The six of us drove into Searcy and had dinner at The Rock House. It’s the same spot Paige and I had dinner at the first night she was here. It’s a really fun spot for beer and good food. We had a great time.
Wow!! Just wow. This adventure keeps getting better and better.
