DAY 66 ~ 11/19/21
Joan and I walked 14.8 miles today, and yup you guessed it, all on AR 67 South. The weather was absolutely perfect, sunny, no wind and 58°. We walked through Emmett, Perrytown and Hope. Yes, the Hope of President Bill Clinton’s hometown and birthplace. We finished the days walk blocks away from the house that he grew up in, so we decided to check it out. The last tour was at 4, which we just missed, so we didn’t get to go inside. It was still cool seeing it from the outside.
We were walking in Hope crossing an intersection. An elderly woman was taking a left turn there and almost drove right into us!! Thank goodness she was going slow because even if she had bumped us it wouldn’t have been a big deal. It was still quite the surprise. When she did see us she pretended not to see us and just kept on driving. Interesting how some people react.
We had two dogs run up to us from a farm super excited to see us. We crossed the road to be on the same side as them so they would not come onto the busy highway. It was everything we could do to get them to go back home because they wanted to walk with us!! So precious. And there was a dog behind a fence that saw us and jumped higher than the fence with excitement!! It was adorable!!
We ate lunch in Hope at Karma Kafe. The place was an absolute dive, but we gave it a shot anyway. Joan and Clarence had chicken fried steak which was the lunch special. It included desert. What a deal. I had the fish fry with tater tots. It was great!
