DAY 27 ~ 10/11/21

Joan and I did 14.3 miles today, 9.1 before lunch and 5.2 miles after. Started off in a gorgeous upper class neighborhood of Springfield which only lasted less than a half mile. The remainder of the day was spent on a busy well traveled highway called Rte 4.

I had a sore glut muscle for the beginning but it worked itself out after a few miles thank goodness.

After our first few miles, we had rain the rest of the day until the last 1-2 miles. That’s the first rain day of the journey so far!! And it wasn’t just light rain. It didn’t pour, but it was a steady rain. Walked right by the Slumberland in Springfield, not close for stopping in but close enough to spot. My Brooks water proof shoes and frogg toggs did the job keeping me dry so I had no issues at all. Joan had a rain coat but turned out to be mostly windbreaker type material so wasn’t the best. After lunch she switched to Clarence’s rain poncho.

We ate Arby’s for lunch. I can’t believe they don’t offer potato cakes anymore!!! Oh dear what will I do??? We did our own thing for supper. I roasted some cauliflower and had leftover chicken.

Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation has secured a TV interview for tomorrow with WICS TV out of Springfield. I think it’s just going to be a written story and no video but will know more tomorrow.

Listening to music now as I write. I feel grateful for so much. For this music soothing my heart and soul. For my body that keeps holding up with each passing mile. For the opportunity of a lifetime and following my dream to do this. For my awesome team Clarence and Joan. For my amazing wife, my Paigey!! For my employees keeping the stores running like a well oiled machine while I’m gone. For my family, my absolutely wonderful family. For an abundance of friends who are with me every step of the way. For so much love in my life.

I am grateful for it all.
