DAY 73 ~ 11/26/21

Joan and I walked a total of 15.5 miles today. It was once again on beautiful, winding and hilly farm roads. The trees were just spectacular. We passed by some absolutely gorgeous Ranches as well.

My right heel was sore last night and this morning. My walking sticks didn’t help as much as the day before I guess. This morning I decided to put back in my inserts that I took out more than a month ago because they were causing heel corns. Wanted to at least try them, wouldn’t hurt for one day. Glad to report they helped immediately! Guess I need them now again!! This sure is a game of trial and error when it comes to keeping my feet willing and able!!

We walked by a house with a man sitting in his living room. As we walked by he got up from his chair and came to the window to wave at us from inside. A minute later he was actually outside asking if we needed water or anything. We thought that was just sweet!

We walked past two historical markers. Photos included here. Love the history!

Lots of dogs greeted us today. One dog had his nose up my sweatshirt!! Another came up to us on the road from behind and actually startled Joan. He began to follow us and a minute or so later a woman stopped on the side of the road in her truck. She said that’s my dog. The dogs name was Cody. He was just a lover boy.

We actually walked by a house with a Biden Harris sign. That’s the first on the trip. Since we’ve been in Texas we have only seen one Trump sign/flag so right now it’s 1-1. lol.

We finished the day in Jefferson. Clarence had bought some eggnog for our Thanksgiving dinner so as we passed by a liquor store I thought maybe we should have a little something extra special to mix with the eggnog. As we were purchasing our Amaretto, the woman behind the counter, Tina, asked us where we were walking. After telling her the story she wanted to make a donation. We gave her the flyer and she is donating five dollars! She said it’s not much but she was very impressed by what we were doing!

Our holiday dinner was was super fun and delicious. I made green bean casserole and my fried potatoes. Clarence barbecued a turkey breast. We raised our glasses and clanked a thanksgiving toast to each other.
