DAY 53 ~ 11/6/21

We got back in the saddle after our wonderful day off yesterday and walked 16.3 miles today. The entire day was once again spent on AR 367. We had one black dog join us on the highway very briefly. Then towards the end of the day I had some thing jumping at the back of my calf which scared me. I actually let out a scream. I turned around and it was the cutest little beagle!!! She had a harness on and it also looked like a collar with part the lead she was able to break free from. We believed she was going to follow us on this busy highway so we decided to take her to the nearest farm house behind us, which we hoped was her home. Yes that required backtracking, but these trash miles do count for my final grand total miles! I actually picked her up and carried her because I didn’t know if she would wander into the road. We didn’t want her to get hit by a car! When we got to the house there was nobody answering the door but we did see a man on a tractor behind the house. We walked towards him and flagged him down and asked if it was his dog. He said yes. Thank goodness we found her home!

The four of us had a celebratory halfway point dinner tonight at a hibachi restaurant near the hotel in Searcy Arkansas. I cannot believe we are actually 50% of the way there! Seems so unreal. It’s all downhill from here, right?!?! I sure hope so!!
