DAY 38 ~ 10/22/21
We moved to our new campsite, Silver Mines Campground in Irontown MO this evening. It’s in national forest and we have absolutely no service. This post could not be published until the next day.
We got a late start today. My phone needed support so we had to wait until 9 before AT&T opened. At least that gave me a little more time with Paige so that was a gift. At the store a woman came in and said that she saw my sign out there and shared that her husband died of pulmonary fibrosis 2 years ago. Touched my heart!! She said he lived with it for 8 years after diagnosis and was part of a new drug study. She also mentioned how helpful the support group was in St. Louis. I’m so glad there are these resources available now. And that people are living longer once diagnosed since my mom had it 25 years ago. Gives me more fuel to keep going and more hope that the fundraising efforts I’m channeling could help create the next big breakthrough or even a cure!!
It was once again so hard saying goodbye to Paige and Ruben, my precious family!! At least it’s only 2 weeks until the next time she makes the trip to join me!!
I walked a total of 17.2 miles today. Joan joined in for the first 7.5 before having Clarence pick her up. It was very hilly which made the miles even more challenging to achieve. We haven’t really had much of that at all. I think Missouri is saying “welcome” in its own way! I did 11.2 miles before lunch and 6 after, finishing at 6 PM. I passed right by a brew house without going in. I must be off my rocker!?! Two dogs came running up to me on Highway F. I sure enjoy when that happens! They followed me down the road a little bit. That also is so fun, but I always worry that they might get hit by a car so I shooed them home. They listened but seemed disappointed they couldn’t play any longer. Saw a gorgeous sunset just before that incredible feeling of seeing the RV!!!
