DAY 105~12/28/21
Joan and I walked 15.2 miles today. It was once again all on highway 35. We had mostly cloudy skies and was still windy, but not as bad as yesterday. Greg was our transportation all day. Paige and Clarence made the transition to Port Aransas and set up camp.
An older man with a scruffy beard pulling a camper stopped on the side of the road and asked if we were OK. We said yes and then he said it’s a long walk! As we continued on Joan said if he only knew! He then did a U-turn right behind us so he must’ve passed us, turned around to come back to us to see if we were OK. It always amazes me the lengths people go through to help others!
Another older gentleman in a white truck stopped on the shoulder to ask if we needed a ride. We said no thanks we’re all right. He said do you need any water? We said no but thank you very much we sure appreciate it. The kindness continues.
We walked across another gorgeous and long expansive bridge over water taking us into Rockport. It was absolutely beautiful!! We saw several pelicans and many seagulls flying overhead. It was awesome!
We made our final move forward with the RV (and our cars) traveling to Port Aransas. Unbelievable seeing it again after 24 years!! We all rode with our vehicles taking the ferry. This is where the ceremony for my mother happened after she passed: White long stemmed roses tossed into the gulf from the ferry. It was a very emotional day to say the least!! On Thursday I will actually walk in and be joined and greeted by my precious family!!
Again Paige and I were the only ones that were up for going to get something to eat. Paige picked an awesome spot called Kody‘s which was just up the road from us. Excellent seafood and we shared delicious cheesecake to top it off!
