DAY 91 ~ 12/14/21

The outpouring of love and support I’ve received from so many of you regarding the loss of my dad has been beyond moving and heartfelt. And just what I need. Each dose helps fill the hole that he’s left. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I walked a total of 16 miles today. I made up the miles I was short from yesterday so I am now back on schedule. Joan walked 11.6 miles, taking the last segment of the day off. Greg then joined in for that segment, walking with me 4.4 miles. It was just priceless walking with my twin brother!! I’m so thankful he’s here. To have family here in this time of sorrow is precious.

When Greg and I were walking we had 3 encounters in a short span right off the bat.

We walked by a woman getting out of her car to put something by a cross and flowers that were already there on the side of the road. Obviously someone she loved had died there. I couldn’t help but approach and say did you lose someone here and I’m sorry for your loss. She shared with us that it was her brother and she has lost four family members this year. We shared that we lost our father yesterday. What a connecting moment of loss and heartfelt love. The radio was on in her car and the song playing was U2’s “In The Name Of Love”. Just perfect!

A UPS driver stopped at a stop sign we were at. He said you’re walking a long way huh? He must have seen me earlier? I told him the story and his eyes became big saucers. He told us to be safe.

I crossed the road and Greg stayed back and a car pulled up to him and asked him if we were OK. Greg said yes but thanks so much for asking.

The common thread of humanity is strong!
