DAY 30 ~ 10/14/21

I was on my own today as Joan wanted to rest her knees and spend some alone time with Clarence. I walked a total of 11.7 miles almost all of which was on State Route 4. It rained the last 5 or so miles. Before the rain, which was forecast to arrive just when it did with 90% chance, I was overwhelmed because not one, not two, not three but 5 different people, three men and two women, stopped and asked if I needed a ride. That’s a lot of kindness. Two passed me, reversed back to me. One woman passed me, pulled into a side road, turned around and came back to me. That’s takes effort and time. As I write, I’m just filled with gratitude.

My brother Mike and wife Candy surprised me today!! I was blown away and moved to tears when I saw them. They went to an Andre Boccelli concert last night in Milwaukee and came from there this morning to Benld IL. They got here just in time to walk with me a few blocks as I walked in to our stopping point for the day. I guess they’ve been secretly planning this with Clarence for days. He sure knows how to keep a secret! He didn’t even tell Joan until this morning! Had a quick lunch with them as they had yet to drive to Bloomington IN where they are staying tonight. Then they pick up their new Scotty at 9 am tomorrow. I still can't believe it!! Very special!!! Candy left me with some Walkers shortbread Scotty shaped cookies. I’m still reeling!!!

We ate lunch in Gillespie at G-pie burgers. When I went up to the counter to order I recognized the woman helping us as the same woman that passed me, stopped, and turned around to come back to ask if I needed a ride. Can you believe that?!?She was on her way to work!! And took the time to check on me. Her name was Yvonne. I absolutely am overjoyed by the synchronicity and love in this world!!

I worked for several hours when we got back. Then Joan made a delicious dinner for us. Potatoes in cream of mushroom/sour cream gravy with slices of leftover pork chops. What a day!! Just keeps getting better and better.

The Springfield news story airs tonight. Unfortunately we don’t get any TV signals where we are currently but the news anchor Marcella just called and will be sending me the link tomorrow morning. I’ll share it on my journal entry for tomorrow.

PS - Candy asked if there was a quicker way to get to the Daily Journal entries and I had a brilliant idea. Reverse the order so latest post is first. Much easier!
