DAY 67 ~ 11/20/21

Joan and I walked a total of 14.1 miles today, again all on AR 67 S. Tomorrow when we finish our walk and reach Texarkana, we will only have a little over 500 miles until we reach our destination of Port Aransas, Texas!! That’s so hard to believe. I feel like I’m in a dream!

We crossed over the Red River. It was a very long bridge. It was so beautiful I actually slowed down to savor and take in the moment, the splendor, the awe.

We were joined by a sweet smiling faced man on our walk today. He was walking on the opposite shoulder, passed us, then turned around to come to the side we were walking on. He was behind us most of the way, as you can see in the picture I took. When we got close to his house he ran up to us to say hi and asked us how far we were walking? When we told him he said “that’s a powerful story. You guys are out doing something good.” It was sweet to meet him! Meant to be we were walking at the same time!

Another very nice gentleman in a beautiful souped up white truck passed us, stopped on the shoulder, put his truck in reverse, and backed up to us on the shoulder! When he got to us he wanted to make sure we weren’t broke down. I’ll never stop being amazed by the kindness we are finding!!

Clarence and Bella walked out on the highway to meet us. Joan joining them was a precious picture of the day.

My twin brother Greg is driving from Austin tomorrow staying in Texarkana two nights with me. I’m so excited !!! I have a day off on Monday so we will spend the day together. He will also stay Tuesday morning to start us on our walk until we cross the border into Texas before he drives home!! I’m so grateful he will be there for this big day!!! Look out Texas, here we come!!
